Our vision
A welcoming, resilient and engaged community where Eritrean heritage is celebrated, newcomers thrive, youth lead with confidence, and diverse neighbours work together for a stronger Calgary.
Our mission
To strengthen community ties, preserve Eritrean heritage, and empower individuals and families in Calgary through inclusive programs, cultural celebration, and community‑led services.
Core Values
The core values of CEKMCA are the guiding principles that help people live, work, and grow together in harmony. While each community may have its own unique priorities, most strong and healthy communities share the following ten key values:
Respect
Respect for others’ differences—cultures, opinions, and beliefs—is essential. It creates an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
Unity and Belonging
A sense of togetherness and belonging strengthens relationships. Members support one another and share a common identity and purpose.
Communication
Open, honest, and respectful communication builds trust, prevents misunderstandings, and ensures collaboration in solving problems.
Compassion and Caring
Communities thrive when people care for one another—helping those in need, showing empathy, and promoting kindness.
Equity and Inclusion
Every member should have equal opportunity and feel included, regardless of background, gender, age, or ability.
Responsibility
Each member contributes to the community’s wellbeing—taking ownership of their actions and actively participating in shared goals.
Collaboration and Cooperation
Working together rather than competing fosters progress, shared learning, and collective success.
Integrity
Honesty and accountability form the moral foundation of any community and build long-term trust.
Cultural Heritage and Identity
Strong communities honor their traditions and history while embracing positive change and diversity.
Sustainability
Commitment to caring for the environment, resources, and future generations ensures the community’s lasting wellbeing.
Cultural events & festivals
Celebrations that preserve Keskese Milash traditions and strengthen belonging.

CEKMCA works closely with grassroots groups, including youth, women, seniors, and newcomers, to support their integration into Canadian society while preserving their rich Eritrean heritage. Through various cultural, educational, and social initiatives, we strive to build bridges between generations and promote mutual respect, understanding, and inclusion.
One of our key priorities is engaging children and youth in meaningful activities that foster teamwork, discipline, and leadership. We organize sports programs, mentorship sessions, and cultural events to help young people stay active, connected, and confident in both their identity and their contribution to Canadian society.
Volunteer opportunities
Event support, mentorship, language & settlement assistance.
Intergenerational programs
Event support, mentorship, language & settlement assistance.

Youth & sports
Our youth initiatives provide safe spaces for teamwork, discipline and confidence: regular sports sessions, community tournaments and mentorship programs.
We collaborate with partner organizations such as Africa Centre and Action Dignity to enhance our community impact and deliver programs that empower individuals and families. Through these efforts, CEKMCA continues to serve as a welcoming space where everyone can share experiences, celebrate diversity, and work together toward a stronger, more inclusive community.
